For us who live in the region the snowmobile is a vital vehicle. We use it for example to fetch firewood or get out in the nature.
We also care about the nature. We avoid afforestations and other things which may be damaged by the vehicles. That is one of the reasons to the tracks.
Each village with a through route have a responsibility to prepare the tracks. Råsavänoto snowmobile association has the responsibility here in Råstrand.
The local tracks to fishing places, excursions and other destinations are prepared when required.
Vindelälvsleden Our biggest and longest track follows Vindelälven from Umeå to Ammarnäs, for 400 km. There are a lot of detours from the track to other destinations.
The way is signposted and there are signposts to gas stations.
Along the way there are also rest areas and shelters with firewood.
Vindelälvsdraget In connection with draught dog competitions like Vindelälvsdraget requires a lot of preparations of the tracks to make them as good and safe as possible for the dogs.
During the competition a changeover takes place in Råstrand, a big audience use to come and coffee and “the sandwich of Råstrand” are served.
Rest areas and excursions The snowmobile association has made some places there you may stay and have a coffee. There are fireplaces and in some places also shelters.
In the following places there are shelter and fireplace. Storforsen, Krokforsen, Tjomptjärn, Åkerholmen, Vinträsket and Kåtabo (small house).
At Tväravan and Isberget there is a fireplace only.
Maps Unfortunately there are no good digital maps over the snowmobile tracks in the county of Västerbotten but at gas stations you may find printed maps.
