Fishing The fishing during the winter is very different from the fishing during the summer. In the winter you have to bore a hole in the ice there you drop down the hook and the bait. In other words you have the fish straight below yourself.
Cross-country skiing Since this region usually has a lot of snow skiing is a common activity, both downhill and cross-country, normally along the snowmobile tracks. You can in an easy way go far out in the nature and to fishing places you want to visit.
Slalom and snowboard We have two good slalom- and snowboard slopes in the region:
Malå – 30 minutes by car. Mountain with 4 lifts and 7 descents. 5 of them with light.
Nalovardo – 45 minutes by car. Mountain with 14 descents from green to black and off-pists.
The Swedish championship for juniors will take place there during the spring of year 2007.
Snowmobile The snowmobile clubs in the region work hard to make good tracks. The biggest track is the one along Vindelälven from the coast in the west to the mountains in the east, about 400 kilometres in length.
Many snowmobile tracks are also being maintained locally so you can reach different excursion places. It also means that we minimize the free driving and spare the nature.
Dogs In the region there are a number of companies which have activities with dogs. Dog team and skijoring after dogs are very popular and you drive along the snowmobile tracks.
We use to have visitors from Sweden and other countries here on training camps with their dogs.
Vindelälvsdraget Every year a draught dog competition called Vindelälvsdraget take place along Vindelälven, from Ammarnäs to Vännäsby. 400 km in length during 4 days, from 15th to 18th of March 2007.
Stay over night in a hut A real “wilderness experience”. A test of survival. Specially if it is very cold, but there are a stove and firewood so you can keep it warm and comfortably.
